Founded in 2010, Senatla Capital’s purpose is to transform the South African economic landscape by creating a multi-strategy alternative investments platform that is an efficient allocator of capital between institutional investors and the emerging black industrialist class in South Africa.
The firm seeks to achieve this by fostering a culture of excellence, rigor, innovation, integrity and fun.
Since our inception in 2010, our focus has been on Private Equity, Real Estate and Private Credit strategies that have been combined across three funds. Our strategy has now evolved to focusing on single themed funds with new and follow-on funds in Private Credit, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Private Equity.
In addition to capital raising, the firm is currently also focused on fully harvesting its second fund and actively managing the investment portfolio in our third fund.
Since inception, we have invested over ZAR500 million in 15 portfolio investments, with seven successful exits and two losses. We have also returned over ZAR400 million cash capital to the investors in our funds. The firm’s current Assets Under Management (“AUM”) are in excess of ZAR500 million.
The firm has remained focused on transforming the mid-market economy in South Africa to reflect the demographics of the country and to also address the historical legacies of exclusion and discrimination.
Through our investment strategies, portfolio investment selection, active portfolio company management and value added, the firm has made a positive contribution to Job Creation, Black Economic Empowerment, Governance, Environmental and Safety, while providing the investors in our funds with above market related returns.
We have also been a catalyst for fostering black entrepreneurship by providing black industrialists with equity risk capital and investing alongside them in portfolio companies.
