Millard serves on the SCEF II and SCEF III Strategy and Operations Board (“SOB”)”. The purpose of SOB is to harness the experience and expertise of seasoned industry, finance and consulting executives through their service on the Boards and Exco’s of SCEF II and SCEF III portfolio companies. The intention is to thereby assist Senatla Capital’s Investment Team in creating value in SCEF II and SCEF III portfolio companies. In this capacity, Millard serves as a Senatla Capital appointed non-executive director on the Generator & Plant Hire (SA) board.
Millard is currently the Special Representative to the law firm of Bowman Gilfillan, the Honorary Business Representative for the Government of Singapore and the managing partner of Masakata Consulting. He currently serves as chairman of the Tactic Group, is a non-executive director of Petmin, a listed mining company on the JSE, a Senior Fellow at the Gordon Institute for Business Science, and ProEnhance a member of the board of the Steve Biko Foundation. Millard retired as an Executive Director and Group Legal Counsel of Murray & Roberts, Ltd.
Millard holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Notre Dame. Formerly the executive chairman of Black & Veatch Africa, Millard was the first ever U.S. Minister-Counsellor for Commercial Affairs for South and Southern Africa. Millard has also served as the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs.
Millard was professor of law at Touro University and adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law School. He was a journalist for the Washington Post newspaper and a Senior Fellow at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is the author of “Steve Biko: Black Consciousness in South Africa” and “Steve Biko: No Fears Expressed.” An accomplished poet, artist, actor and photographer, Millard has held several exhibitions worldwide.
