Karabo serves on the Advisory Boards.
Karabo was the Executive Head: Office of MD Enterprise Business Unit at Vodacom South Africa (“Vodacom SA”). Prior to that, she was Executive Head: Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions at Vodacom Group Ltd (“Vodacom”). In this position, she had responsibility for executing the Africa expansion and exit strategy for the company, project managing its corporate actions, acting as corporate advisor to its subsidiaries and divisions and preparing year end valuations of the group companies, for reporting purposes.
Karabo was previously the inaugural CEO of AWCA Investment Holdings (“AIH”) (the investment arm of the African Women Chartered Accountants’ association). Under her leadership, AIH’s investment portfolio comprised investments in Foskor, Atos Origin South Africa, Reef Tankers, Summit Garnishee Solutions, Zico Gaming, Blythedale Hotel, Power FM and Etana Insurance Company. Prior to AIH, Karabo was an Investment Principal and Financial Analyst with Shanduka Group. She was also Executive Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Shanduka Group.
Karabo has served on a number of corporate boards and is currently an independent non-executive director of Merafe Resources Ltd (JSE listed; serves on Audit, Remuneration and Nominations Committees); Rolfes Holdings Ltd (JSE listed; serves on Audit and Remuneration Committees) and SA Express Soc Ltd (Chairs the Audit and Risk Committees).
Karabo qualified as a Chartered Accountant having served articles with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and has over 9 years of investments, strategy, corporate finance and valuations experience.
